Introduction

Joined Up Care Derbyshire  would very much like your views about plans to develop 'crisis cafes' in Derbyshire.  A crisis café is intended to be a safe, welcoming place where people experiencing mental health problems can go, usually outside of normal working hours, if they urgently need support.

Joined Up Care Derbyshire (JUCD) is committed to developing high quality, flexible crisis support that provides a genuine alternative to needing to attend A&E or a stay in hospital. We already have a new 24/7 mental health help and support phone line for Derbyshire. We also have a trial Safe Haven where a person who needs crisis or preventative support out of hours can go instead of A & E (this is a referral only service). Now some initial funding is being provided to develop some 'crisis cafes' in Derbyshire and we are gathering people's ideas to help design and develop them. For some examples of crisis cafes in other parts of the country please click here: Examples of crisis cafes

Initially, the crisis cafes will be for people aged 18+ but we welcome comments from people below the age of 18 and their parents/ carers so that we can plan ahead for future developments. Thank you very much for your help.
