Last week we hosted our first Neurodiversity awareness session for carers, hosted by the amazing Rae from Shine!

We had 35 attendees who came and gained useful information, as well as supporting one another sharing their experiences and helpful services.

Carers who came along have shared how grateful they are for this awareness session and the safe space Rae provided for them to open up.

Rae shared lots of information, covering lots of topics which gave the carers the opportunity to meet others in similar situations and ask as many questions as they liked. Rae also shared the presentation with everyone which had lots of helpful slides for the attendees to look back on.

This awareness session was extremely beneficial and carers have asked for more awareness sessions around this topic, which we hope to be able to look into.

Comment from an attendee:

Please thank Rae for doing such a good job of explaining as much as she could about this vast topic in such a clear and concise way in a very short time! She also managed to create a relaxed atmosphere and a 'safe' space to discuss it, for everyone. It was really good to be part of a group of people who have some experience of this topic - through either themselves or family members - as I also have.
