The Learning Disability Partnership Boards in Derbyshire are well established and provide forums for sharing information and views and work to improve and develop services and support to people with learning disability and their carers. They are administered by Derbyshire County Council Stake-Holders Engagement and Co-production Team and consist of people with learning disabilities, carers and paid representatives of DCC and Health Services.

In the final months of 2022 the three boards started meeting again and now meet face-to-face every other month on a Thursday morning at:

  • The Ikon Church, Storforth Rd., Chesterfield for The North Derbyshire Board (representing The High Peak, North Dales, Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover)
  • Belper Football Ground, The Triangle, Belper for The Amber Valley and South Dales Partnership Board
  • Arena Church, 1 Rutland St., Ilkeston, for The Erewash and South Derbyshire Board

There are currently vacancies in each of the Partnership Boards and it is important that carers’ voices are heard. If you are a Learning Disability Carer and might like to represent other carers and meaningfully contribute to the lives of people with learning disability in Derbyshire, contact Derbyshire Carers for more information or Dawn Nash at Derbyshire County Council. Support is given to Carer Representatives by DCA’s Learning Disability and Autism Community Engagement Worker and a payment of £250 per annum, to cover expenses, is made by DCC.
